Newport News Behavioral Health Center provides crisis intervention support to children and adolescents experiencing distress due to a broad range of psychiatric symptoms requiring immediate acute inpatient hospitalization. Treatment includes individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management and psychoeducation. Ongoing care coordination assists patients and families in crisis and connects them to appropriate aftercare services.
A brief therapy approach focusing on stabilizing crisis situations serves males and females and provides support to families. Our freestanding facility is located on a rural campus setting, providing a natural and soothing environment. Activity and group rooms, outdoor courtyards, a dining area, patient rooms with individual bathrooms (two patients per room) and recreational areas are provided.
The Acute Care Center is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and is staffed with qualified mental health professionals, including master’s level clinicians, registered nurses, mental health technicians and board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists.
