What to Bring and Not to Bring

The following documents are needed at the time of admission to Newport News Behavioral Health Center:

  • Birth certificate
  • Immunization records
  • Insurance information
  • Social Security card
  • Custody order if applicable
  • IEP with eligible minutes if applicable

The following items are not allowed in the building (please note: this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Drugs or paraphernalia
  • Guns/knives/sharp objects
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Alcohol
  • Cigarettes or other tobacco products (chew, dip, etc.)
  • Matches
  • Cigarette lighters
  • Lighter fluid
  • Glue products
  • Drug and sexually oriented materials
  • Nude or erotic posters
  • Sexual devices
  • Satanic materials (some material may be allowed if considered a choice of religion)
  • Inappropriate reading material
  • Tapes with explicit lyrics
  • Tools
  • Paint cans
  • Bleach
  • White Out
  • Fishing line
  • Needles, pins, thumbtacks
  • Firecrackers
  • Razors
  • Extension cords
  • Scissors
  • Metal objects
  • Wire coat hangers
  • Wire (includes paper clips)
